They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why not share it with friends at PJ’s Restaurant in Whitby? The cozy, friendly diner retains an original ’50s feel with its long dining counter and vintage fixtures, while serving scrumptious contemporary fare like Greek omelets alongside comforting Canadian breakfast dishes like pancakes and bacon and eggs.
“Customers love tucking into our breakfast egg dishes,” says owner Jordan Iordanou. “We serve a range of omelets and if you want something a little more tailor-made, you can build your own.”
Jordan opened PJ’s Restaurant in 2001, bringing his years of experience in the Canadian hospitality trade. The result is the sort of neighbourhood place you want to have a coffee in every day, or maybe breakfast or lunch, while catching up on the local news. Jordan’s naturally welcoming Cypriot roots don’t hurt either.
I discovered PJ's on my way to the Go Train to work in 2008. I had tried all other breakfast spots in Whitby but they were usually low scoring in the clean/service areas. Another turn off for me is when I use the washroom to wash my hands before a meal if it's not clean then the following meal will probly not go well. PJ's is clean top to bottom. Just makes eating a more thoroughly pleasant experience.
Servers do treat you as if they have known you for years and they go out of their way to remember your name. I like that.
This restaurant is one of the few remaining with its breakfast counter in tact, round stools and all. There's even an old milk shake machine, even though they say it doesn't work, it's still a story.
The food has always been consistent. Fresh, lightening fast and hot.
I live the fact that it's clientele consists of many single regulars. You come alone and like the Cheers TV show, you are welcomed and included, every day. If you prefer to have quiet time you just take one of the booths and your meal time is confidential.
More than a breakfast spot. It's a home away from home.

Love it! It has become a tradition for us to have breakfast here most Sundays. The food is basic and delicious and the service is very warm and efficient. It is a good place to have conversation and relive old memories because it is like a step back to the good old 50's diner.
I especially like how kind and welcoming the waitresses are to the older single customers who come in for breakfast.I am sure it makes a bright spot in their day!
There might be a bit of a wait but most are willing to do it. So what does that say?!
We used to frequent this place quite often - we were even regulars and known in the restaurant - until one horrible day we were completely insulted. We were waiting in line as usual (very limited seating to begin with) with our toddler at the time. The waitress clearly saw that we had been there for quite some time and another group of people came in and were seated immediately. No problem as they may have made special arrangements but for goodness sakes, at least come over to let us know how long the wait would be. Instead, she avoided us. Her husband (which I believe is the owner) noticed we were there and at that point, we got fed up and left. This is a great example of horrible customer service. At least acknowledge that we were there and give us a ball park of how long the wait would be.
Never been back since (over 3 years) and have found a wonderful place with better service, food, seating, etc.
The place was busy. We were in line. One table left and nobody cleaned it for the longest time. Finally we got sick of staring at it and there were others waiting who had to stand so we sat down. The waitress seemed irked that we sat down. Well hurry up lady! The breakfast was boring and overprices. Much better places in town.

I go to this wonderful restaurant with my mom for breakfast. We love the personal service. We always get more than we can eat. An extremely friendly atmosphere. I will continue to visit.
I love going to PJ's for breakfast. The staff are all so friendly. They treat you as though they have known you for years. I love the fact that the owner takes the time to visit with the guests and personalize their visit.

No doubt about it, the service was amazing. The food was great but they seem to cheap out and not give you very much hash browns. Thats my favorite part of breakfast so I was disapointed. All in all the food was pretty good but if your really hungry dont order the special.
